FAQ

Questions about Teacher Sorted

Short answers about what it does, how it works and the Founding Teacher beta.

What Teacher Sorted is

What is Teacher Sorted?

It helps teachers manage the work around teaching against the non-teaching work time they actually have. Add the work, set the time available and see whether the two fit together.

Is Teacher Sorted a lesson planner?

No. You do not enter lesson delivery as work to schedule. It is for planning, preparation, marking, assessment, resources, admin, communication, pastoral follow-up, regular jobs and the other work around teaching.

How is it different from a normal to-do list?

A normal list records what needs doing. Teacher Sorted also looks at when you want to work and whether the work planned for this week fits into that time.

Is there a Primary and Secondary version?

It is one product adapted to the different ways Primary and Secondary teachers work. Primary includes PPA, preparation and getting resources ready to teach. Secondary includes preparation periods, different classes and marking batches.

Can teachers outside the UK use Teacher Sorted?

Yes. Some UK terms are used during the beta, but your work-block wording can be changed. The basic idea is not tied to PPA or to one country.

Using Teacher Sorted

How does Teacher Sorted know when I have time to work?

Set up your usual working pattern once using PPA, preparation or non-contact periods, plus any before- or after-school time you choose. It uses that pattern as the starting point for each week.

What if this week is different from normal?

Change the days that are different. If Wednesday has a staff meeting or parents’ evening, reduce the work time available on Wednesday. Your usual pattern stays in place for the next week.

What is Quick Capture?

Type or dictate something like “Mark English books by Friday. 45 mins.” Teacher Sorted can recognise the task, deadline and time estimate and add them for you. You can edit them or add more detail whenever you want.

What are Routine Tasks?

They are jobs that come round regularly. Set one up once and it will appear when it is due instead of you adding the same task every week.

What is Fit Finder?

It helps with the question, “I’ve got 25 minutes. What should I do?” It looks at the time available, deadline, location or tools, likely interruptions and how much concentration a task needs. You can ignore its suggestion and choose something else.

Do I have to know exactly how long every job will take?

No. Add the task with what you know. Suggested times can be changed, and a task can stay without an estimate until you know more.

What happens if I have more work than time?

It shows that the week does not fit. You decide whether to protect work, move it, reduce it, delegate it or wait, or mark it for discussion. If a task no longer needs doing, you can archive it from Work. Nothing is rearranged without you.

Does Teacher Sorted automatically rearrange my workload?

No. Teacher Sorted can make suggestions. You decide.

What if my PPA or preparation time gets interrupted?

Change the time you actually had. You can also choose how much interrupted work time should count when planning the week. A period that may be interrupted does not have to be treated the same as protected time.

Does Teacher Sorted assume I’ll work in the evening or at weekends?

No. You choose when you want to work. Evenings, weekends and school holidays are not added automatically.

What happens during school holidays?

Add the holiday or different week and pause your normal work blocks and term-time routines for those dates. If you choose to work, add the time you want to use. Your usual pattern starts again when the holiday ends.

Your data and privacy

Should I enter learner or pupil names?

No. Teacher Sorted does not need learner-identifiable information. Use a general class, group or responsibility label instead.

Can my school, SLT or manager see my workload?

No. The workspace belongs to the individual teacher. There is no manager dashboard, staff ranking or productivity score.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Go to Settings to download your workload data or delete your account. Account deletion asks you to confirm before removing the records linked to it.

How do I get help?

Use Help inside the app or email support@teachersorted.com.

Founding Teacher beta

What is the Founding Teacher beta?

A small group of teachers using Teacher Sorted with their real workload and giving occasional feedback about what works and what gets in the way.

Is the beta free?

Yes. You will not be asked for payment details, and there is no automatic charge later.

How do I join?

Apply for a place using the beta form. Places are released in small groups, so applying does not guarantee a place. If accepted, you will receive a single-use access code to create your account.

How much feedback do I need to give?

There is no weekly research meeting or long reporting process. Tell us when something works, confuses you or gets in the way.
